Ms. Cordell
is no stranger to Shakespeare having performed leading roles in multiple seasons with the Los Angeles area’s Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival and Santa Susana Repertory where her credits include Hamlet, Macbeth, Taming of the Shrew, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet, and A Christmas Carol (which she has performed locally with Lamplighter’s Theatre.) Other west coast credits include four seasons of original comedy with Roy Brocksmith’s CA Cottage Theatre, most notably as Hedda Gabler in Heddy! The Musical, Mark Taper Forum’s The Traveler, and Actor’s Company String of Pearls. TV & film credits include numerous day principals spanning from General Hospital to NPT’s Math Roundup, prime time work from Alien Nation to Ally McBeal; and an award winning Indie film, Instant Trauma. Her work in commercials runs the gamut from Crisco to Infinity. Locally, Ruth was seen most recently as Stevie in Edward Albee’s The Goat, Lillian in I Hate Hamlet for TN Repertory Theatre, and Portia in Merchant of Venice with Naked Stages/Valhalla Shakespeare. A Tennessee Arts Commission Ingram Fellowship recipient with a professional resume in theatre, dance, mime, teaching, CMT and equine bodywork, Ruth returns to her native TN as Director of Speech & Theatre at The Webb School, and as Educational Director of The Tennessee Shakespeare Festival Camp. |
