Her association with Mockingbird began with its first show, Becket, which she co-directed with company founder David Alford, and she eventually directed a majority of Mockingbird’s productions, including Of Mice and Men, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Glass Menagerie, Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, Hamlet (co-directed with David Alford), The Night of the Iguana, and A Southern Christmas Sampler. She has directed for virtually every theatrical organization in Nashville, including Nashville Children’s Theatre, Nashville Shakespeare Festival, and Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theater and has extensive acting and teaching experience on the professional, collegiate, and high school levels, including Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts. She and her husband, Scot, have two sons and live in Madison.

TSF Artistic Director Lane Davies states, “Rene brings to our table a vast range of talent and experience, as well as a deep knowledge of the realities of theatre production. She is a perfect addition to the Tennessee Shakespeare team.”
